“Training in IT enabled Services must for Public Services”

      The Forest Fire Alert System of the Forest department and the Krishinet applications of Agriculture departments were specially lauded today in the Mission Governance Summit-2009 organized by Dataquest a renowned ICT magazine. co hosted by notable e- News Portal www.mppost.org in Bhopal today. Shri Anil Oberoi, Additional Chief Conservator of Forests and Shri Kamal Jain Assistant Director Agriculture received the Dataquest e-Gov Champion award in an august function organized at Hotel Jehan Numa Palace today, The awards were presented by Urvashi Kaul Asst. Shri Anurag Shrivastav, MD, MPSEDC, lit the lamp to open the function. Shri Ashok Awasthi, DIG, Bhopal and Shri Anil Oberoi,. ACCF were also accompanying him. Ashvini Lohani MD MP Torisum Development corporation were present.

Sri Sarman Nagele Editor www.mppost.org,. He mark the progress made by the state in the field of IT.. Quoting the report of National Knowledge Commission, he added the United Nation and global e-governance in its recent study has stressed that the efforts form all the corners should be make to extend  its benefits to common public. He was convening the workshop and panel discussion.

Addressing the audience Shri Shrivastav underlined the necessity to train more government officials in ICT & e-Governance project management. “We have to build capacity in the government cadre itself.  There is no point of training the people above 55 years. We have to concentrate on young officials" he added.

 Shri Awasthi warns about growing threats of Cyber crime. He advises the assembled gathering for not to reveal their bank accounts, credit card numbers and other personal information on the Internet. He also warned girls for uploading their pictures on the Net. “This could lead to various crimes related to spam, morphing among others. However, there are provisions in the IT Act of Government of India to take actions against such crimes,” added Awasthi.

Shri Oberoi informs that the Madhya Pradesh Forest Fire Alert System and other applications are generating interest of other states. Gujarat and other states with large tribal populations are consulting the MP Forest Department to replicate the same at their places.

Underlining the tremendous potentiality of using information technology as enabler for agriculture growth in the country, Shri Kamal Jain explains the information and advisory needs of farmers. Mr. Jain also shares the services provided to the farmers by Hindi portal 'Krishinet' and Kisan Call Centre. He urge on the need of building an integrated data base that may serve as a repository of target beneficiaries for different departments and agencies working in the field of rural development.

Sri Lajpat Ahuja Additional Director public relation department describes the rich cultural and traditional heritage of the state and stress on the need to showcase the strength of and opportunities in the state by use of ICT.

Mr. Sandeep Jain of CRISP Bhopal presented the potentiality of M- Governance looking to the increasing penetration of mobile. Pofessor Anurag Sitha presents the IT applications employed by Makhan Lal Chaturvedi Patrakarita VV Bhopal towards e-University.

The other important conclusion of the workshop included the need for transparency in effectively making information available to citizens using ICT tools. It was also felt that there is a need to empower the service providers lobby in the state. The three main challenges facing Madhya Pradesh today are illiteracy, lack of computer awareness and extent of connectivity in the rural areas. Only once these three issues are addressed in a proper manner, e-governance will achieve its real success in Madhya Pradesh.

Rajneesh De, Associate Editor, Dataquest, opens the workshop and underlines the initiative of magazine. Dataquest has been regularly pioneering e-governance through editorial content and workshops. As part of the Mission Governance Series Dataquest have been organizing events in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Kerala and Haryana. “The series aims to get all stake holders—senior government officials in various departments, local bodies and private players on one platform , the ultimate goal being how common man can avail the transparent and effective government services,” He added.

Different professionals and officials working in the field of e-Governance participated in the workshop and raise there queries during the panel discussion.
